All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, and rental charges, along with your responsibilities. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the latter will take precedence.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To rent a vehicle in Bridport, you must be at least 21 years old, although age requirements may vary based on the vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional fees. A valid driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle category, is required, along with valid identification and proof of address. Payment details and a security deposit must also be provided. Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Bridport office. A deposit may be required to confirm your booking. The full payment and security deposit are generally due at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are stated in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through established payment providers.
4. Pick-Up and Drop-Off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed for your records. Please return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, acknowledging that normal wear and tear is acceptable. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns could result in extra fees, so please notify us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- All car rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find the full details and excess amounts outlined in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to help mitigate your financial liability. It is recommended to review these options thoroughly. You are responsible for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount, unless additional coverage is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will remain your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For detailed information, please refer to your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges, which can impact your overall rental experience.
Prohibited Uses Policy
Prohibited Vehicle Uses in Bridport
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other dangerous pursuits. Transporting hazardous materials, sub-letting to unauthorized individuals, or permitting unapproved drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. The vehicle must not be used for purposes it is not designed for, nor should passenger or weight limits be exceeded. Travel outside the agreed geographic boundaries without prior authorization is also restricted.

8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Bridport will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount you paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not affect our liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or for cases of fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by English and Welsh law. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
